Historic Note:

Cyril Deal was the grandson of Bro. John Turner one of the Founders of the Lodge. Five Brethren were initiated during his year but he used Pastmasters to conduct some ceremonies. It was his subsequent service to the Lodge and Province for which he is best known. It was a result of his initiative that land was bought for a car park not envisaged by the founders. To mark the 90th birthday of Dr.Salter v W.Bro Cyril visited 121 Lodges in Essex to obtain the signatures of the Master, Wardens , Secretary and Treasurer of each lodge which formed an album presentation to Dr.Salter . He was appointed to Provincial office in 1944 and Grand office in 1947. 

He was DC for 50 years and ready to prompt even though his eyes were closed. Provincial DCs feared him on APGM visits where he would push them aside and takeover.
