Historic Note:

He was installed by Dr.Salter. The Master initiated J.O.Thompson OBE.,JP.,CC who was proprietor of the Essex Chronicle and later a Mayor of Chelmsford, who compiled Dr,Salter’s Diary. There were five other initiations in that year. During the year Bro Bertram Deal resigned due to poor health and died the following year, He had unintentionally brought about the tradition of the display of sweet peas at the July meeting.
