Easterford Lodge

W.A. CHURCH

Initiated 1901
Master 1915

Historic Note:
Dr. Salter initiated  his successor but was then absent for the rest of the year probably due to Sciatica due to being in a car on bumpy roads . There were no ceremonies in the year. Controversy again came when there was a request to use the dining hall weekly for an Officeers Mess. This was initially agreed by Pastmasters and the first was held but later permission was rescinded. It was pointed out that only the Trustees could give permission and it was clear that Dr. Salter was behind the decision but he was no longer a Trustee as for some reason. As a result of this W.Bro. H. Carter resigned because Dr. Salter refused to meet the Pastmasters. What transpired was that Dr. Salter and the PGM went to the War office where  it was agreed that consecrated property could not be used for military purposes without being authorised by Parliament.
